MARC TONNEMACHER was born in St. Johns, Michigan and attended elementary, middle school and high school throughout Mid-Michigan. After high school he entered the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1983. He received a Bachelors of Business Administration from Grand Valley State University and has worked in various positions including substitute teacher for Grand Rapids Public Schools and holds a senior position in his current job of inventory auditor.
Family is an important part of Marc’s life. His wife, Michelle, is a self-employed graphic and web designer, www.livinglifegraphics.com. He has one daughter, Sierra, who attends
Grandville Middle School, plays softball for Grandville Little League, and plays violin for St. Cecilia's Music Society.
Seeing
how the community, the state, and the country are being affected by the
excessive role of the government, Marc has decided to make his concern known. Being
new to the political field he talked to many people about these same concerns
that are on the minds of many individuals. Concerns include the recent mortgage
crisis which is caused by the government forcing banks to finance people who
cannot afford them, thus resulting in extensive foreclosures. Other concerns
include government mandating what insurance companies can or cannot insure, our
public school system, small business taxation, and the close relationship of
the unions with government.
Because
of Marc’s enjoyment of the many seasons of our Michigan outdoors, he stays
active with bicycling, fishing, canoeing, cross-country skiing, hiking, and
camping. Often, people will find him working out at Fitness 19 in Jenison,
see him visiting the animals at John Ball Zoo, or find him bicycling through
their neighborhood. If you see Marc please stop him and let him know what is on
your mind.
